The Gold Experience is the first Prince album to be credited to his unpronounceable symbol, and it was released at the height of a very public disagreement with his label, Warner Bros. Records. Despite the tumultuous circumstances surrounded its release, The Gold Experience was one of his most commercially and critically successful albums of the s, and contained several songs that have endured as Prince classics.

Reception. Reactions to The Gold Experience were mixed, although it has to be said that the American reviewers were more positive than the European reviewers. It was either called characterized as a ‘return to form’ or as an ‘old routine’. However, there was widespread consensus on the fact that experimentation and innovation were no longer part of Prince/ ‘s music.

Recorded and released three or four years before Prince seriously broke big, this is actually one of my favourite albums of his. Firstly, despite not being remastered (as is the case with most of his albums, unfortunately) the sound quality is excellent - good stereo, nice /5().
  7. Akinozshura says:
Prince wrote hundreds of songs in his lifetime and released dozens of albums, ranging from studio recordings to live albums, compilations and collaborations with his many affiliated groups and protegés. The store selection will continually evolve with new and out-of-print titles added upon release.

When the symbol appears in place of words on a release, please simply credit to: The Artist (Formerly Known As Prince), no ANV required. If the credit is to "The Symbol" or similar wording, please credit to The Symbol. The unpronounceable symbol is an alias used by Prince from June 7 to May 16 - he changed his stage name to the symbol which is a combination of the symbols for male.
